A Bee in Your Bonnet
When a bee swarms our head, we try to swat it away or move away from it. When you cannot take your mind off of something, you have a bee in your bonnet. Any thought that continues to plague you, keeps you stuck in suffering. Whether it be pleasure or pain, gain or loss, fame or obscurity, blame or praise - all lead to suffering.
AN ANTIDOTE
Little thoughts, subtle thoughts when followed stir up the heart.
NOT comprehending the thoughts of the heart, one runs here & there, the mind out of control.
BUT…
Comprehending the thoughts of the heart, one who is ardent, mindful, restrains them.
When followed, they stir up the heart.
ONE who is awakened, let’s them go without trace.
A Buddhist Teaching
Put your mind on your work at hand. Concentrate on what is before you.
Your fleeting thoughts, 'are a like a star at dawn, a bubble in a stream, a flash of lightning in a summer cloud, a flickering lamp, a phantom, and a dream'.
