Everything that Happens Teaches the Dharma
Try not to resist what shows up in your life. Go with the flow.
As each person encounters the path of life in the world, each person will meet what they need in order to find the Truth. In other words, whatever comes into your life comes to awaken you. Whether it stings or heals, it comes to help you let go of the ego in the way you need to do it. It may nip you from behind, bark, bite, poke, lick, kiss, nudge, chase or any number of prods to get you to stop clinging to the ego and to rely on pure awareness (God, Buddha).
It doesn’t mean it is easy or trouble-free, but it does require that you have no need to defend your honor, no need to shame yourself or anyone else and no fear. What makes this freedom possible? Reliance on pure awareness (God, the Self, Buddha).
Each person who finds the Dharma finds it for themselves, from their experience. A teacher is helpful as someone who points out the holding nature of the ego in your life, right where you are and to encourage you to continue dropping away body and mind.
To stop identifying yourself with the body and mind is awakening.
Don’t give up. Keep going.
