Repetition Compulsion - Overwhelmed by tension and anxiety, the repeater tries & tries to get free, get it right by doing the same old thing again and again; desperate for a change. It is rather a foolish endeavor. Change is the nature of this existence.
Our dilemma comes from our desire to get what we think will make us content.
What keeps us from being content right where we are? This question implores us to study our mind.
It is NOT to say life is absurd, but to recognize a compulsion to do the same thing again and again is absurd as it was a curse for Sisyphus.
Life is NOT ridiculous especially so for those born as a human being. All of creation appears to be under our auspices to some degree. The whole of existence moans for release from suffering. We, however, may not know how to end suffering.
Often we find ourselves wanting to run. Escape. Bat away the miseries of this phenomenal world with acquistions and projects of all sorts and requirements. We conjure up ideas that life is better over there - somewhere else - we, however, forget wherever we are is being right here, right now without the agony of wanting to be somewhere else.
It sounds simple. It is not simple. We must work with our mind and all the sensations that raid the mind. We must let go of the rock of desires in our mind and seek contentment right where we are.
Those go-getter’s that want to change the world rather than change their mind, suffer.
Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Keep going with practice.
