Bowing and Bowing in Obedience
Ugh OH! No one, well practically no one lives an obedient life. We do not like the word obedience. To obey the law, the other or rules is not something we take a liking to…
This omission is a failing - and has spiritual and material consquences.
Obedience requires submission to whatever requires obedience. The law of the land, the law of a culture, the law of work, the law of marriage, the law of life, the law of truth, the law of care and so it goes.
Obedience can be as simple and as important as stopping full stop at a stop sign. Or paying bills on time, or telling the truth or being obedient to the work to be done.
No great work can be accomplished without obedience….
Does anyone follow obedience? To bow down, and bow down and bow down…not in a pro forma fashion but with true sincerity of submission.
Test it out in your own life. Take up a task, whether a trifle or a task of some magnitude and submit to the requirements by bowing in obedience to the work. It requires a letting go of the ego that wants nothing to do with submission. It requires yielding in grace to what is required.
Let go of the ego that measures, complains, and has an uncooperative attitude. It comes down to giving up the ego and being willing without complaint to accept the work that is before you. It requires submission, a willing submission of bowing and bowing in obedience to what has come into your life.
Study how you work. Study whether or not you are obedient to the work at hand or are you irritated by what has been given to you. Is it an obstacle versus an opportunity to surrender and submit?
What is your attiude to obedience? Did you find the ego in charge? Or are you able to wait in patience and gratitude for whatever is coming into your life as your life?
